Dear colleagues,

As mentioned in previous postings, a new IAVCEI commission on volcano geodesy was recently formed.  The commission is still taking shape, but we intend to have a kick-off meeting at the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly in Portland, Oregon, this August.

The commission kick-off is tentatively scheduled for lunchtime (13:10-14:20) on Monday, August 14, at the Oregon Convention Center (where the conference is being held).  Details on the specific room location will be available at a later date.  Lunch will not be provided, but there will be options for picking up lunch at the convention center itself in the 10-minute break between oral sessions and the commission kick-off.

At the meeting, we would like to establish the commission leadership and roles, and to set a work plan for the coming 1-2 years.

All with interest in volcano geodesy are welcome to attend.

We look forward to seeing you in August and working with you to get the new volcano geodesy commission off to a running start!

Best wishes
Giuseppe Puglisi and Mike Poland
