Subject: Expected post-doc position on timescales of caldera-forming eruptions (Japan-NZ-US collaboration)

Hi All,

We anticipate having funding for a post-doc to work on a collaborative project between Takeshi Hasegawa (Ibaraki University, Japan), Darren Gravley (University of Canterbury, New Zealand), and Guil Gualda (Vanderbilt University, USA).

The project is focused on timescales of caldera-forming eruptions, with implications for volcanic hazards. Work will be focused on deposits in Japan, but it may also include comparative work with deposits in the Taupo Volcanic Zone (New Zealand) and the US.

The post-doc will be based at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA), but will interact extensively with all members of the team.

Start date is somewhat flexible, but it could be as early as July 1st, 2017. If funded, the project will continue until early 2019, with possibility of continued funding after that time.

The selected person will need to have a PhD completed by their start date in the position. Formal announcement of the position will be posted once final approval of the project is obtained (late May or early June).

Interested applicants should contact Guil Gualda (g.gualda@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) to express interest in the position. Please forward this email to suitable candidates.

Best,

Guil
