Dear Colleagues,

Interested in numerical modeling of volcanic processes?

Join us for a one-day workshop on Saturday, August 19, 2017 following the IAVCEI Scientific Assembly to learn, share, and discuss modeling of volcanic processes with OpenFOAM (https://openfoam.org/). OpenFOAM is an open-source computational fluid dynamics toolbox that has recently begun to be applied to problems in volcanology, with built-in meshing tools and solvers for multiphase fluids, particles, and thermodynamics within a customizable platform. The workshop will include an introduction to OpenFOAM, hands-on tutorials, and presentations on applications from participants and conveners. Bring your laptop, as well as your volcanology and modeling interests.

Details can be found at http://iavcei2017.org/postA_3.html. Register by June 1 with priority given to early career researchers.

Organizers:
Mattia de’Michieli Vitturi, INGV Pisa
Einat Lev, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory
Hannah Dietterich, USGS Volcano Science Center
Tomaso Esposti Ongaro, INGV Pisa

This offering is not approved or endorsed by OpenCFD Limited, the producer of the OpenFOAM software and owner of the OPENFOAM® and OpenCFD® trade marks.
