Please be aware of a pre-conference field trip before the IAVCEI meeting in Portland, Oregon this year to Crater Lake and Newberry calderas (Aug 8-12).  Don't miss this opportunity to look at classic exposures of a wide variety of eruptive deposits, from obsidian lava flows to welded fall deposits to mafic cones.  We'll have spectacular views of caldera-wall depositional sequences, volcanic vents and nearby fault traces.  Please join us!
