We are pleased to announce a workshop on Python solutions for management of continuous seismic data and ambient noise interferometry, which will be held at the University of Liverpool, UK, on 9-11 January, 2017. The workshop is funded under the NERC Advanced Training initiative and open to both PhD students and early career researchers. The workshop will introduce standards and practices for the management and processing of large volumes of seismic data with applications in ambient noise interferometry. Participants will receive training on the principles of seismic interferometry and ambient noise seismology, and their application to a range of seismic data at different scales. The objectives of the workshop are to enable participants to evaluate the potential of seismic interferometry, and to provide them with a working knowledge of this technique. The workshop will use open-source Python-based software, including the well-known MSNoise and Obspy. The workshop will take place following the 2017 Joint TSG-VMSG-BGA Assembly and will run over three days.
Organizers:
Dr. Silvio De Angelis, Lecturer in Geophysics, University of Liverpool, UK
