PhD position in magmatic petrology at ETH Zurich

The Institute of Geochemistry and Petrology at ETH Zurich invites applications for a PhD fellowship in volcanic petrology.
We are searching for a highly motivated PhD student interested in magmatic processes associated with volcanoes to investigate the behavior of Li and Li isotopes in a variety of volcanic systems. The PhD project, funded by SNF and supervised by Dr. Ben Ellis (ETH Zurich) and Dr. Anne-Sophie Bouvier (University of Lausanne) will be integrated into the magmatic petrology group of Prof. Olivier Bachmann. This project will involve a combination of fieldwork and geochemistry (including clean lab work, LA-ICPMS, and SIMS analyses) so analytical experience is an advantage.

The length of the appointment will be for 3 years, starting in Summer/Fall 2016.
Candidates should hold a diploma or M.Sc. degree with a strong background in geochemistry and/or geology.
