CoV9 conference: call for sessions

Dear Colleagues
We invite to submit session proposals for the Cities on Volcanoes 9 conference, to be held in Puerto Varas, Chile, November 20 – 25, 2016.
The CoV9 conference aims to focus on “Understanding volcanoes and society: the key for risk mitigation”, with three major themes: Volcano Processes; Volcano Hazard and Risk Evaluation and Volcano Risk Reduction.
Session proposals are invited focusing on one of the ten following topics:
For Volcano Processes aspects:
1. Volcanic eruptions: processes and related hazards
2. Monitoring: techniques, interpretation and uncertainties
For Volcano Hazard and Risk Evaluation aspects:
3. Volcano hazards during quiescent periods - what are they, where do they occur, and when do they occur?
4. Hazard evaluation, emergency plans, alert levels, crisis managements and evacuations: recent case studies and responsibilities for emergency managers
5. Eruption impacts to urban and rural populations, infrastructure, health, environment and natural resources
For Volcano Risk Reduction aspects:
6. Land use planning in volcanic areas: from
pre-eruption zoning to post-disaster resettlements
7. Societal risks from volcanoes: community knowledge and perception, communication and mitigation
8. Introducing and maintaining knowledge of volcanic hazards in places without frequent eruptions
9. International collaboration: volcanoes without borders
10. Geoarchaeology, geoparks, volcano geoheritage and tourism in volcanic areas
The proposals should include the following information:
a) Title of the session
b) Topic related
c) Name, affiliation, and e-mail address of the proposer(s)
d) Brief session description (not exceeding 250 words)
