Upcoming workshop at ETH Zürich, Switzerland

The Foundation “Volcanic Institute Immanuel Friedländer” jointly with the Doctoral Program in Mineral Sciences of the Universities of Western Switzerland organizes a 3-day workshop on March 29 – April 1, 2016 at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. The workshop targets PhD students, advanced master students as well as postdocs and senior scientist and provides a series of lectures on the topic of formation, detection and evolution of magma reservoirs in the Earth crust from a geophysical, numerical modeling and petrologic/geochemical perspective. It brings together 7 experts from the respective research areas and provides a platform for discussion with particular focus on advancing our knowledge on magma reservoirs combining expertise and knowledge across a variety of research areas.
Form of Workshop
The workshop will consist of 12 lectures (1-2 lectures from each expert distributed over the 3 days). We allocate ample time for discussion following the oral presentation and in accompanying breaks between and after the lectures.
We further offer the opportunity for the attending PhD students to present posters to foster mutual interaction of the participants; poster session will be held on the first and second day of the conference (30 and 31 March) after the lectures (16:00-19:00).
