Dear colleagues,

 

I would like to inform you that the Department of Geology at the University of Tromsø is seeking a motivated and qualified applicant for a 3-year postdoc position in electron microscopy of earth materials. The earliest starting date for the position is April 1st , 2016.

 

The successful candidate will carry out independent research on topics of his/her own choice in collaboration with members of the crustal dynamics research group, which consists of 5 permanent staff members in petrology, structural geology, and economic geology:

The department has recently acquired a new Zeiss Merlin FE-SEM with EDS, WDS, EBSD, and CL detectors. Daily routines and maintenance of the microscope are performed by an engineer. The successful applicant will take responsibility for scientific aspects of the operation of the microscope. The applicants are expected to have worked with one or more fields of petrology, geochemistry, or structural geology, and they must have extensive hands-on experience in electron microscopy and/or electron beam analysis.
