Do you want science to make a difference? Are you interested in volcanoes? Do you have a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related field? Do you have strong coding abilities? Do you like automating everything you do? If the answer to all these questions is a resounding "yes", this new position in our volcanology team may be for you.

We are seeking a talented and innovative individual to develop and implement a wide range of high-level automated volcano monitoring processes. You will interact with a wide range of researchers and technicians. This permanent position is based at GNS Science in Taupo, in the heart of the volcanic region of New Zealand's North Island, with regular interactions with staff in our Wellington offices.

To be successful in this position, you will have

• a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related field
• preferably some experience in an operational volcano environment
• an advanced understanding of time series analysis and computational Earth Sciences
• some experience with data processing codes (e.g., geochemical remote sensing, seismology)
• computer scripting and /or programming skills in a Unix/Linux environment
• a can-do attitude and strong results-oriented focus
• in addition you will be an enthusiastic communicator who has a desire to connect others with our information and to help create new knowledge
