The Volcanology group
at the School of Geosciences at the University of South Florida is
seeking motivated students who are interested in pursuing graduate
degrees (MS and Ph.D.) in volcanology to begin
their studies in the Fall semester 2015. To apply to our graduate program, please visit
http://hennarot.forest.usf.edu/main/depts/geosci/grad/students/ and expand “Geology Program” for more information.
Support is available in the form of teaching and research assistantships
and is typically awarded to students entering the PhD program.
Applicants who wish to be considered for department funding (such
as a Teaching or Research Assistant position) are strongly encouraged
to contact faculty member(s) who support their research interests.
In addition to the usual documents –
transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation and GRE score – the committee
will also look at your Areas of Interest and geology background.
Research subjects in
volcanology include long-term evolution of volcanic systems (radiometric
dating/geochemical analyses/GIS) and dynamics/hazards of
volcanic processes (field studies/modeling). Prior
research experience and computer programming skills are beneficial.
For more information please contact Aurelie Germa or Sylvain Charbonnier
