Dear Colleagues,

 

Students are invited to apply for one or more teaching assistant positions in the Department of Geography, Geology and Planning at Missouri State University. Applicants are invited for MS study in our graduate program in Geospatial Sciences to undertake research related to physical geography, geochemistry, igneous petrology, stratigraphy, human geography and urban and regional planning.

Example research projects include, but are not limited to: petrology and geochemistry of igneous rocks, detrital zircon studies, contaminant and groundwater hydrogeology, soil contamination, karst geology, urban, economic and social geography, and transportation planning.

 

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to physical geography, planning or geology, with a GPA above 3.0, or above 3.0 on the last 60 hours of coursework.  Coursework in GIS or remote sensing a plus.

 

The Missouri State University campus located in Springfield, Missouri, USA, gateway to the Ozarks. Springfield is within 3 hours of Kansas City, St Louis, and Tulsa, OK in the Ozarks to the north and west and is near outstanding national forest and recreational waters to the east and south. The department has about 225 undergrad and 30 graduate students is part of a personalized campus environment. The university is a thriving and growing institution with more than 24,000 students from all 50 states and over 85 countries. The graduate program in Geospatial Science and other math and sciences are well-established with active research groups in a variety of research areas.
