Ph.D. Student Position in Modeling of the Climate Response to Volcanic Eruptions.  The Department of Environmental Sciences of Rutgers University invites applications to become a Ph.D. student to join a research group investigating the impacts on climate on seasonal and decadal scales following volcanic eruptions as a function of size, location, and timing of the eruptions, and the current climate state, including phase of QBO, ENSO, and AMO.  The successful candidate will work with a team of researchers at Rutgers and NCAR, conducting general circulation model simulations, and analyzing the output from previous simulations that included forcing from volcanic eruptions.  Preferable background is an M.S. degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, physics, mathematics or a related field.  Experience using climate models and with the NCAR computing environment, the analysis of computer simulations of climate change, aerosol interactions with climate, atmospheric and oceanic variability on seasonal to decadal scales, and the effects of volcanic eruptions on climate is desirable but not necessary.  The position is funded by a three-year NSF grant.  To apply please use the link at http://envsci.rutgers.edu/academics/atmos_grad/.  Please apply by January 15, 2015 for full consideration.  For more information, please contact:
