**YET ANOTHER AGU SESSION ADVERTISEMENT - THIS ONE IS ABOUT DIFFUSION**
Our
Session at the AGU Fall Meeting 2014 is Called: “Using Diffusion to
Interrogate Timescales of Magmatic Processes: Methods and New
Observations” (session #3324)
If you’re still reading this and want to know more, here’s a brief description:
Our
existing understanding of diffusion in geologic materials allows us to
interrogate the timescales of magmatic processes and magma chamber
behavior in a manner considerably more effective than many other
techniques. But outstanding questions still exist regarding initial
conditions assumptions, appropriate measurement techniques, experimental
calibrations, handling of uncertainties, as well as in interpretation.
We welcome contributions in the realm of theoretical, observational, or
experimental diffusion studies related to volcanoes on Earth or
elsewhere. We especially welcome contributions from young scientists
and scientists from underrepresented groups: If possible those
scientists will be featured in oral sessions.
Confirmed invited speakers thus far include:
Kari Cooper, UC Davis
Daniel Morgan, Univ Leeds UK
Thomas Shea, Univ Hawaii
You can submit your abstract to this session using this link:
Conveners:
Christy Till, Arizona State University
Jeremy Boyce, UCLA
