Dear All,

Abstract submission for the AGU Fall Meeting, 15-19 December, 2014, in San Francisco, USA, is now open!

We invite contributions to the following session on subduction zones:

#3301 - Mechanisms of magma ascent, emplacement and extrusion

Magma rises through the lithosphere, stalls forming reservoirs and eventually erupts.

The mechanisms behind this journey to the surface are poorly understood. Major knowledge gaps include:

- The conditions controlling the propagation and arrest of dikes, sills and cone sheets;

- The factors influencing the development and evolution of magmatic reservoirs;

- The mechanisms influencing reservoirs unrest;

- The conduit processes controlling the dynamics of magma extrusion.

This multidisciplinary session welcomes contributions from field studies, geophysics and geodesy,

analytical, experimental or numerical models that may help us to better constrain any of these processes, in any magmatic system, at any scale.

The conveners are:

Nicolas Le Corvec, USRA - Lunar and Planetary Institute, Houston, TX, USA

Benoit Taisne, Earth Observatory of Singapore, Singapore, Singapore

Guillaume Carazzo, Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, Paris, France

With apologies for multiple posting

Nicolas
