Sent on behalf of Richard Ernst, Wouter Bleeker and Kevin Chamberlain; apologies for cross-posting.

We invite you to consider submitting an abstract to the LIPs, Continental Reconstructions and Metallogeny/Resource Exploration Topical Session at the upcoming Geological Society of America (GSA) Annual Meeting in Vancouver 19-22 October, 2014:

Topical Session: T235 “Some New Gloss on Old LIPs: Implications for Continental Reconstructions and Metallogeny” www.geosociety.org/meetings/2014/sessions/topical.asp

Conveners: Richard Ernst, Wouter Bleeker and Kevin Chamberlain

Description: A flood of new data (mainly U-Pb ages) on the plumbing system of Large Igneous Provinces (dykes, sills, and layered intrusions) is providing an improved framework for resource exploration and for reconstructing supercontinents. Any LIP-related submissions are welcome, although abstracts that focus on LIP U-Pb geochronology and geochemistry and associated implications for reconstructions (including paleomag) and for metallogeny are especially relevant.

Abstracts can be submitted here: https://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2014AM/cfp.epl and the deadline is July 29th.

Cheers

Simon
