USGS Volcano Science Center geologist position

The USGS Volcano Science Center in Menlo Park, CA is advertising a geologist position for a large project on an alkali basalt/trachyte volcanic center in the Middle East. Duties include coordinating USGS staff and international collaborators involved in characterizing the seismic and eruptive hazards of the volcanic center, managing online databases containing geologic and analytical data, synthesizing data and writing technical reports and portions of research papers, and coordinating travel and shipping logistics for fieldwork and training.
The incumbent must be able to travel internationally 2 weeks per year, with optional additional fieldwork up to 6 weeks per year. We are looking for a geologist with strong writing and communication skills, and the desire to work internationally. The position is a GS-9 level, with a starting salary of $56,735 per year.
