Frontiers in Volcanology
************************************************************************************************
Dear Colleague,
I would like to draw your attention on the birth of FRONTIERS in VOLCANOLOGY.
FRONTIERS is an open-access publisher (http://vimeo.com/51066493#) ensuring the quickest publication of high quality papers, launched in 2007 in alliance with Nature Publishing Group (http://vimeo.com/60568916#).
The VOLCANOLOGY section of Frontiers aims at responding to the increasingly higher demand of 1) high quality, 2) quickly published and 3) open source studies in a rapidly growing and expanding field.
The volcanology section is devoted at understanding any process dealing with the VOLCANO FACTORY (http://www.frontiersin.org/Volcanology/about), including:
- development and dynamics of magma chambers;
- modalities of shallow rise and emplacement of magma;
- volcano unrest and eruption forecast;
- eruption triggering processes;
- dynamics of eruptive processes;
- environmental impact of eruptions.
AUTHORS are encouraged to submit reports on any theoretical and applied study dealing with the volcano factory, on Earth and in the Solar System, using a wide range of approaches, including field, remote sensing, geophysical, geodetic, geochemical, petrologic and modelling (analogue, analytical, numerical) data.
Frontiers in Volcanology aims at publishing top-quality papers on research results that derive from using these and related approaches and methods. Papers that are quantitative and combine two or more of the above approaches are particularly welcome.
Volcanology welcomes SUBMISSIONS of the following tier 1 articles: Book Review, Editorial, General Commentary, Hypothesis & Theory, Methods, Mini Review, Opinion, Original Research, Perspective, Review, Specialty Grand Challenge and Technology Report.
All manuscripts must be submitted directly to the section Volcanology (http://www.frontiersin.org/Submission/SubmissionInfo.aspx), where they are peer reviewed by the associate and review editors of the specialty section (http://www.frontiersin.org/Volcanology/editorialboard).
Articles published in the section Volcanology will be subject to the Frontiers evaluation system after online publication. Authors of published original research with the highest impact, as judged democratically by the readers, will be invited by the Chief Editor to write a prestigious Frontiers Focused Review - a tier 2 article. This is referred to as "democratic tiering". The author selection is based on article impact analytics of original research published in all Frontiers specialty journals and sections. Focused Reviews are centered on the original discovery, place it into a broader context, and aim to address the wider community across all of Earth Science.
