*** Final Reminder : VMSG 2014 Conference Edinburgh ***

Registration closes at 17:00 on Friday 1 November for the 2014 Volcanic and Magmatic Studies Group (VMSG) conference, which is
being held in the historic city of Edinburgh (5-8 Jan).

The conference is being hosted by the University of Edinburgh and the British Geological Survey and will be held at the John McIntyre Conference Centre at the foot
of Arthur's Seat. Arthur's Seat is Edinburgh's 350 Million year old volcano which helped to form the basis of James Hutton's Theory of the Earth.

This is the 50th anniversary of the conference, and as such there are a number of special events.

- Themed talks on the advances in volcanology & igneous petrology in the past 50 years.
- Conference Dinner and ceilidh in Our Dynamic Earth Museum (Tuesday 6th Jan)
- Barry Dawson memorial session (Monday 5th Jan)
- Fieldtrip to Arthur's Seat (Sunday 4th Jan)
- Confirmed keynotes: Jon Davidson, Steve Sparks, Sally Gibson & Iain Stewart.

- Intraplate and Continental Rifting
- Subduction Zone Magmatism
- From Rift to Ridge (including Rifted Margins)
- Planetary Volcanism
- Volcanic Hazards and Risks
- Magmatic Processes: Conduits to Atmosphere
