Immediate opening for a Scientific Programmer/Analyst (SUNY, Buffalo). The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in developing large scale parallel computational simulation and data analysis tools and will support and develop such tools being developed at the center under multiple grants.
Develop large-scale parallel computational simulation software and data analysis
• Specific duty – Develop geophysical mass flow and volcanic ash transport toolkit for hazard analysis using large scale computing resources.
• Specific duty – Support toolkit for hazard analysis by responding to phone calls and e-mail requests.
Develop data analysis tools
• Specific duty – Develop new tools using data analytics and workflow methodology.
Support data analysis tools developed at the center
• Specific duty—support new tools using data analytics methodology and workflows.
Minimum Qualifications: A Masters degree in engineering, geosciences or computer science with programming experience in C, C++ and FORTRAN is required. Excellent oral and written skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications: A PhD Degree with a focus in computational science or engineering is preferred. Experience with implementing analysis of large scale data from scientific simulations preferred.
