The Seismic Research Centre of The University of the West Indies invites applications for the position of Research Fellow (Volcanologist).  The post is tenure track.
Applicants must have a PhD in Earth Sciences or a related field at the time of appointment.  The candidate should possess work experience in a similar institute, in geochemistry along with geodetic techniques (ground-based remote), statistical and graphical analysis and computer programming.  Familiarity with GAMIT processing system, as well as experience with volcanic hazard and risk assessment.  Experience in communicating aspects of the science to non- practitioners is high desirable.
The successful candidate will be an essential member of the team monitoring volcanoes in the English-speaking Eastern Caribbean, with specific responsibility for leading and supporting the geochemistry programme of the SRC.  Research related to volcanism in the region.  Preparing and updating volcanic hazard assessments for the Eastern Caribbean.  Communicating geohazard information to vulnerable island communities.  Assist with the day to day running of the SRC.  Teaching duties and general participation in University life.
