Reminder: Special Issue in Journal Applied Volcanology

Hi all,
Earlier this year we announced a special thematic issue in the Journal of Applied Volcanology:
The Application of Volcanology Research to Emergency Management.
We would like to remind you that the deadline for expressing interest in contributing to this issue (via a short abstract) is the 31st October.
For those who have already expressed interest, you may submit an article at any time through the normal JAV channels, where there is an opportunity to specify that the article is for the special issue.
We have had a good response so far, and have the first article under revision.
The final deadline for submission of manuscripts will be April 30th next year.

Guest editors: Jan Lindsay (University of Auckland, NZ), Tom Wilson (University of Canterbury, NZ), Christina Neal (USGS, USA), Laura Sandri (INGV, Italy)
This thematic series highlights volcanological research that has been or is being directly applied to emergency management. Topics of interest include:
• evacuation management in response to volcanic risk
• volcanology informing critical infrastructure (lifelines) emergency planning or component/network design
• development and application of volcanic warning systems and hazard message protocols
• development and application of community outreach programmes
• analysis of volcanology input to crisis decision making
• volcanic eruption disaster exercises or simulations
• case studies of volcanic risk reduction in practice
Deadline for submissions: for abstracts October 31st 2013; for articles April 30th 2014
