2 years Post-doctoral Researcher position in volcanic ash generation

Vacancy for a 2 years Post-doctoral Researcher in volcanic ash generation, based in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, LMU University, Munich.

Starting date: negotiable, but the post is available immediately.
We are looking for a researcher to work on the mechanisms of volcanic ash generation within the frame of the AXA Research project “Risk from volcanic ash in the Earth system”. The PDR will experimentally investigate the role of magmatic fragmentation, shear-comminution and post-fragmentation size reduction of pyroclasts in the generation of volcanic ash. Collaboration is envisaged with the other research team members on the in-plume alteration and gas scavenging of ash, ash aggregation and the effect of volcanic particles ingestion by jet-turbines.
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant area (volcanology, geophysics, Earth sciences), experience in experimental volcanology and modeling will be consider beneficial.
