Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the session T039: Understanding the Cascadia subduction zone through multidisciplinary studies. The session description is as follows:

The deployment of onshore and offshore seismic and geodetic instruments has brought a new level of geophysical observations of the Cascadia subduction zone, which also provides constraints and motivations for many related studies. Outstanding questions for the region include deformation and hydration of the Juan de Fuca and Gorda plates, segmentation of the subducting slab, accretionary wedge, and arc along strike, dehydration of the slab, serpentinization of the mantle wedge, melting processes, volcanism, and seismicity. This session brings together researchers in seismology, geodesy, geodynamics, petrology, volcanology, and geochemistry to share recent progress in our understanding of the Cascades.

Invited speakers:
Kelin Wang
Anne Trehu
Christy Till
Satoru Honda

Conveners:
Haiying Gao, Yang Shen
University of Rhode Island
Kelsey Druken
Carnegie Institution of Washington
Paul Wallace
University of Oregon
