Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention and invite you to submit your abstracts to session V008 - Degassing, outgassing and regassing of magmas at the next AGU Fall Meeting, in San Francisco, December 9-13.

During their storage, ascent and eruption, magmas experience a wide variety of processes linked with their volatile component(s). These volatiles can be exsolved into a separate vapor phase (degassing), decouple from the melt and escape from the magma (outgassing), or even re-incorporated (regassing). Furthermore, after eruptive products are emplaced, volcanic glasses may experience modifications to their volatile constituency via interactions with the atmosphere or with seawater. This session welcomes, but is not limited to, petrological and textural investigations of volatiles in magmas, including melt and fluid inclusions, groundmass glasses, crystals, and vesicle characteristics.

The abstract submission deadline is August 6 23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT. It should be made through the Fall Meeting website, https://fallmeeting.agu.org/2013/.

We hope you will participate in making this session bubbly and explosive!

Best regards,

The conveners,

Thomas Giachetti (Rice University)
