New publications about Chaiten volcano
************************************************************************************************
A few weeks ago, Luis Lara sent a notice that the open access journal Andean Geology was about to publish a suite of papers about Chaitén volcano to coincide with the 5th anniversary of its 2008 eruption. Those papers have now been published and are available on the journal’s website
(http://www.andeangeology.equipu.cl/index.php/revista1)
The papers in this issue of the journal include:
Overview of Chaitén Volcano, Chile, and its 2008-2009 eruption
Evidence of mid- to late-Holocene explosive rhyolitic erupitons from Chaitén Volcano, Chile
Holocene record of large explosive eruptions from Chaitén and Michinmahuida Volcanoes, Chile
Late Holocene history of Chaitén Volcano: New evidence for a 17th century eruption
Validation of the FALL3D model for the 2008 Chaitén eruption using field and satellite data
The Chaitén rhyolite lava dome: Eruption sequence, lava dome volumes, rapid effusion rates and source of the rhyolite magma
Rhyolite lava dome growth styles at Chaitén Volcano, Chile (2008-2009): Interpretation of thermal imagery
Co-eruptive deformation and dome growth during the 2008-2009 Chaitén eruption
Pyroclastic density currents associated with the 2008-2009 eruption of Chaitén Volcano, Chile: Forest disturbances, deposits, and dynamics
Effects of volcanic and hydrologic processes on forest vegetation
We hope you find these papers of interest.
Sincerely
Jon Major and Luis Lara
