Doctorate Student (PhD) fellowship in volcanic petrology at ETH Zurich (Switzerland)
The Institute for Mineralogy and Petrology at ETH Zurich invites applications for a PhD fellowship in volcanic petrology, to be filled as soon as possible.
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student willing to perform field work, geochemical analysis and modeling to investigate petrological cycles and caldera-forming events in active magmatic provinces. The PhD project, funded by Swiss NSF, will be integrated in the group of volcanology and magmatic petrology at ETH Zürich, supervised by Prof. Olivier Bachmann. Additional information about the project is available upon request.
The length of the appointment will be of 3 years. Starting salaries are 41k CHF/year. Candidates should hold a diploma or M.Sc. degree with a strong background in geology, geophysics or geochemistry.
