PhD opportunity: Continental Dynamics-Central Anatolian Tectonics (CD-CAT)

A large, international and multidisciplinary project to investigate the development of escape tectonics and surface-to-mantle dynamics of Anatolia (Turkey) is underway, and several of the lead investigators are seeking new graduate students to conduct thesis research as part of this project. Components of the CD-CAT project include seismology, structural geology, sedimentary geology and basin tectonics, geochronology and geochemistry (high- to low-temperature), igneous and metamorphic petrology, geomorphology, and numerical modeling. US-based scientists in CD-CAT are at the University of Minnesota, University of Arizona, University of Missouri, University of Pennsylvania, Northern Arizona University, and the USGS/Denver, and are working with colleagues at universities in Ankara, Istanbul, Muğla, Frankfurt, Toronto, and Sydney.

US and international students interested in geochemistry and petrology research are encouraged to visit our web site (http://www.esci.umn.edu/orgs/whitney/CD-CAT-index.html) for more information and contact Mary Reid at Northern Arizona University (mary.reid@xxxxxxx).
