EMSEV session at IAVCEI 2013 meeting

Dear Colleagues

IAVCEI 2013 will be held in Kogoshima (Japan) from July 20 to July 24.

Abtracts deadline is fixed to January 31, 2013

EMSEV Working Group ( http://www.emsev-iugg.org/emsev/) is pleased to invite you at:
Symposium 2: Monitoring, observation and modeling of volcanic p

and warmly encourage you to contribute to the following session:

2-2b. Electromagnetic and other geophysical methods for imaging and monitoring on going activity

Volcanic eruptions are always dependent on their tectonic setting, their historical activity, their magma feeding systems, their shallow structure and related hydrothermal activity. These morphological hydro and thermal dynamical features, associated with geological discontinuities are the key unknowns for the evaluation of eruptive scenarios and for efficiently monitoring the on-going activity. The objectives of this session are to highlight:
- Methods which can give information on the shallow and deep volcanic structures before and during volcanic crises,
- Efficiency and the reliability of multi-parameter studies of volcanoes and geothermal fields,
- Integration of land and satellite observations,
- Laboratory experiments and related physical mechanisms,
- Complex data processing and modeling,
- Real-time evaluation of activity and eruptive scenarios,
- Review papers and case studies,
Joint use of electromagnetic, geochemical, thermal studies, seismic and geodetic measurements and results are strongly encouraged for this session since they enable us to clarify the relationships between magmatic, hydrothermal, environmental and mechanical processes.

Convenors: J. Zlotnicki* (<mailto:jacques.zlotnicki@xxxxxxxxxx>jacques.zlotnicki@xxxxxxxxxx)
, Y. Sasai (<mailto:yosasai@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>yosasai@xxxxxxxxxxxxx), Malcolm Johnston (<mailto:mal@xxxxxxxx>mal@xxxxxxxx)
V. Tramutoli, G. Currenti, T. Hashimoto

Yours Sincerely,
