The University of Alaska Fairbanks, in partnership with the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology and Kamchatka State University, invites you to our annual field trips to Katmai National Park in Alaska and Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes in Kamchatka.

Katmai trip is scheduled for June 9-22, 2013. The trip provides a unique opportunity to visit the Valley of Ten Thousands Smokes, the site of the largest eruption in 20th century. Participants will explore products of the 1912 Katmai eruption, i.e. ignimbrite sheet, Novarupta Dome, and Katmai Caldera.

Kamchatka trip is scheduled for August 16-30, 2013. Participants will have an opportunity to explore two active arc volcanoes - Mutnovsky and Gorely, featuring a wide range of volcanic processes and phenomena, from products of caldera-forming eruptions to active fumaroles. Students will receive 3 hours of undergraduate or graduate credit through UAF.

Detailed information and application forms are available at http://www.uaf.edu/geology/academics/international-volcanology/. Additional information can be found at our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/International-Volcanological-Field-School/178543865542781

Applications are accepted and reviewed on the continuous basis until all vacancies are filled. If interested, please act promptly as the number of vacancies is limited.
