Research Assistant Professor position at University of South Florida

The Department of Geology at the University of South Florida seeks a geophysicist to expand existing programs in volcanology and geophysics and to help build a new program in seismology. The successful candidate will have research and teaching interests in the broadly defined areas of volcano seismology, earthquake seismology, infrasound, and geophysics, and will become an active member of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics within the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and help manage the computational infrastructure for a seismology laboratory, develop an externally funded research program, mentor graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in seismology and geophysics, contribute to field programs, and interact constructively with the USF and international research communities. The position, to be filled at the Assistant Professor level, is a 9-month non-tenure-track appointment, beginning August, 2
 013. Salary is negotiable.  A Ph.D. in seismology, geophysics, or similar field is required. ABDs considered, but candidate must have Ph.D. conferred by time of appointment.
