Dear colleagues,

2013 AGU Meeting of The Americas in Cancun, Mexico, is approaching. We welcome your contributions to session V04: Magma processes: their influence on eruptive style and hazard assessment.

Session description: Magma processes as mixing, assimilation, and crystallization are very common, and somehow spontaneous, in magma reservoirs of stratovolcanoes. Despite of this fact, their influence on triggering different eruptions and eruptive styles are not completely understood. As a consequence, it is always difficult to assess volcanic hazards in volcanoes with impending activity. In order to contribute to the understanding of such phenomena and in particular of those eruptions occurring in heavily populated areas, we proposed this session to investigate these magmatic processes recorded in historic eruptions, to determine their effects on eruptive processes, and to compare these results with modern active volcanoes.

The deadline for abstract submissions is February 6, 23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT. Meeting will be held May 14-17.

All the best for this 2013.
