Nominations for Secretary of IAVCEI/IACS Joint Commission on Volcano-Ice Interactions

For the last year, it has been my pleasure to serve as Chair of the IAVCEI/IACS Joint Commission on Volcano-Ice Interactions (http://volcanoes.dickinson.edu/iavcei_iacs_viic/index.html). It has been another successful year for the Commission, including the VII-3 conference in Alaska and well-attended sessions at larger international conferences. In January 2013 I will rotate out to the position of Ex-Officio Chair.
In 2013, Vice Chair Tracy Gregg will rotate to the position of Chair and
Secretary Lucia Capra will take over the Vice Chair role. This
rotational cycle leaves the position of Secretary open for a newly
elected officer. I would therefore like to solicit nominations
for election of a new Commission Secretary.
To broaden interest in the Commission our past Officers have been triads
of people who hold backgrounds in the following three fields:
geological studies of volcano-ice interactions,
geophysics/glaciology/hazards, and planetary geology. As I am rotating
out
of an active role, we are now seeking nominations for a scientist
working on geological studies of volcano-ice interactions to be elected
to fill the 2013 Secretary position. A compiled list of nominations
will be sent out for a member vote in January 2013.
For us to continue to thrive continued member participation is essential. Please send your nominations for the position of 2013 Commission Secretary, along with a brief justification of support to Lucia
Capra (lcapra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) by 11 January 2013. Nominated candidates are asked to
