Dear Colleagues:

We have extended the search for two assistant professor positions at New Mexico State University.  The positions are in the areas of neotectonics/thermochrology and sedimentology/stratigraphy, and the ads are copied below.  Please feel free to circulate this email to your colleagues and students.  Thanks so much!

Assistant Professor, Neotectonics/Thermochronology, New Mexico State University (Revised)

The Department of Geological Sciences seeks applications from neotectonicists/thermochronologists who are interested in teaching and research in a geologically and culturally diverse environment in the Rio Grande rift of southern New Mexico for a permanent, 9-month, tenure track position as Assistant Professor.  The Department values a balance of teaching and research and is in a phase of restructuring after multiple retirements.  We seek individuals interested in building a department that will meet geoscience challenges of the 21st century.  We offer the BS and MS degrees in geology.  The successful candidate will participate in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise undergraduate and graduate research projects, develop and maintain a dynamic research program, contribute service to the department, university, and geologic community, and may participate in outreach programs.  PhD in geology in the field of neotectonics or thermochronology is required.  Applicants with field-based research programs are preferred.

Submit the following in a single pdf file to Dr. Jim Murphy, Chair of the Search Committee at geosearch@xxxxxxxx:  cover letter, CV (including publication list), statement of research interest, statement of teaching philosophy, list and contact information for at least three references.  The prior closing date of November 12, 2012, has been extended to December 14, 2012, but the search will continue until the position is filled.
