The planned research includes integration of both new and existing geochemical data with records of processes that took place prior to medium-size to large explosive eruptions, whereby the aspects of the temporal evolution and process rates play a key role. Field expeditions e.g. to Latin America or Iceland are intended. In addition to the scientific work, the position includes communication of scientific findings with respect to early warning and risk evaluation to the general public.

Required Qualification:
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in a geoscientific field
- Background in volcanology, petrology, statistics, hazards
- Availability to participate in field campaigns
- Ability to work in a team
- Good communication skills
- Languages: fluency in English (written and spoken) is necessary, additional European language skills are an advantage
