PhD Opportunity- Washington State University

The School of the Environment at Washington State University invites applications for a new PhD funded research project, beginning January 2013 (Spring Semester).  The research examines trace and ore metals as a means to track volatile behavior and fluid migration within intermediate and silica magma chambers.  This project will entail a combination of experimental work (in collaboration with James Webster, AMNH) and analytical work (EMPA, LA-ICP-MS, SIMS and FTIR), looking at partitioning of  ore metals and Li between minerals, melt and fluid phases, and applying experimental results to natural systems.

Previous analytical and/or experimental experience is preferred.

Please send via email a letter of interest (including relevant background and contact information for two potential references) and a current CV to Michael Rowe (mcrowe@xxxxxxx) by September 15, 2012.
