Visiting Assistant Professor in Sedimentology, NMSU
The Department of Geological Sciences at New Mexico State University invites applications for a nine-month full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor beginning 20 August 2012. Expected target salary is $57,000 commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester, including Survey of Geology, Sedimentation/Stratigraphy, Historical Geology, Honors Geology, an undergraduate elective, and a graduate class in the successful candidate's field of expertise. The successful candidate may also participate in the department's field camp.
Visiting Assistant Professor in Structural Geology, NMSU
The Department of Geological Sciences at New Mexico State University invites applications for a nine-month full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor beginning 20 August 2012. Expected salary is $57,000, commensurate with qualifications. Responsibilities include teaching four courses each semester, including Survey of Geology, Structural Geology, Tectonics of North America, an undergraduate elective course, a graduate class, with potential participation in the department's field camp.
Additional Information and Application Procedures for Both Positions
The department offers programs leading to the BS and MS degrees, is fairly small with 6 faculty lines (http://www.nmsu.edu/~geology/), and is situated in the southern Rio Grande rift, with ample examples of many geologic phenomena for field teaching and research. Analytical facilities include XRF, TIMS, LIBS, microscopy lab, mineral separates lab, sample preparation facilities, and vehicles and equipment for field work. New Mexico State University is a Land Grant, NASA Space Grant, Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Extensive, Hispanic-Serving Institution; we encourage applications from candidates from underrepresented groups.
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. (or ABD) status in geoscience at the time of appointment.
