Dear magmaficionado, pyroclastomaniac, experimenthusiast, mineraddict, or bubbliever,

Please consider submitting your work to our session for this upcoming AGU meeting:

Decoding the Textural Record in Volcanic Rocks: Advances in Experimental and Numerical Petrology (V011)

Description: "Volcanic rocks show a vast range of crystal, vesicle, and interstitial glass textures expressing complex histories of solidification, degassing and strain accommodation. Petrological experiments and scaled analog models explore the myriad thermodynamic and mechanical states that generate such textures. In turn, numerical models link experimental results to natural volcanic processes at a wide range of scales. This session brings together experimentalists and numerical modelers, and seeks contributions employing experiments, analog and numerical models focusing on (1) phase equilibria, (2) cooling or decompression-induced crystallization and degassing, and (3) magma deformation during ascent."
