Dear Colleagues, we wish to draw your attention on the following AGU fall meeting session. We encourage your contribution and welcome your opinion next December
in San Francisco.

See you there.

V048: Thermal Budgets, Rheology and Thermo-Rheological Feedbacks in Magmatic Systems.

Models of magma transport and eruption depend strongly on the constitutive law used. Crystal-bearing multi-phase magma exhibit complex rheological responses. Both the apparent viscosity, and the thermal properties of magma (thermal diffusivity, heat capacity, latent heat of crystallization) are highly temperature-dependent, thus processes inducing thermal transients strongly influence magma flow.
This session aims to bring together field, experimental and theoretical studies that address the energy balance of magmatic systems, their transport, and feedback relations between the two. Hot topics of particular interest include shear heating of magma, and the latent heat budget during crystal growth and resorption.
