2 post-doctoral researchers in magmatic petrology/volcanic processes at ETH Zurich,
From: Olivier Bachmann <bachmano@xxxxxx>
*****************************************************************************************

The Institute for Mineralogy and Petrology at ETH Zurich invites applications for two post-doctoral research positions starting September 2012.

The two research positions are in the general area of magmatic/volcanic processes, with specific focus on geochemical and geophysical modeling of magma chambers, rates of magmatic processes, role of volatiles in magmas, and eruptive dynamics. Expertise in geochemical/geochronological techniques (particularly with LA-ICPMS), imaging of geological material with X-ray techniques, and/or numerical modeling of geological processes are strongly encouraged.

The successful candidates will be integrated in a new research group focusing on the dynamics of magmatic processes, with specific interests ranging from the growth of continental crust and the volcanic/plutonic connection to eruptive processes associated with caldera-forming events. They will be expected to develop an independent research program complementing the group's interests. There will be opportunities to interact with well-established groups in experimental petrology, geochemistry, geophysics, geodynamic modeling and economic geology at ETHZ.

The length of the initial appointment is 2 years, extension being possible to a maximum of 6 years. Starting salaries are 83 kCHF/year

Applications including CV, three references and a brief statement of research interests should be sent in a single pdf-file to Olivier Bachmann (bachmano@xxxxxx).
