Dear Colleagues,
We welcome your contribution to the session:
V06: Differentiation processes in magma chambers
http://sites.agu.org/fallmeeting/scientific-program/session-search/855
Most of the differentiation responsible for the diversity and evolution of igneous and volcanic rocks occurs in magma chambers. A wide array of processes, including equilibrium and fractional crystallization, volatile exsolution, magma mixing, assimilation, immiscibility and postcumulus evolution, occur within these zones. These processes have formed a variety of igneous bodies, including layered intrusions, flood basalts, plutonic complexes, and operate in lava lakes and subvolcanic magma chambers today. This session welcomes studies on differentiation processes and aims to integrate field, textural, geochemical, experimental, and geophysical examination of intrusions and extrusives that further our understanding of magma chamber environments.
