Dear friends and colleagues,

We kindly invite you to participate in a session focused on the DInSAR
techniques applied to the geology and engineering geology studies during the
upcoming GEOITALIA conference 2011 (September  19-23, 2011 in Torino, Italy)

B8 session - DInSAR techniques applied to the geology and engineering
geology studies: state of the art and future perspectives

Convenors: Moro Marco, Saroli Michele, Solaro Giuseppe, Stramondo Salvatore

The scientific geological community can take advantage in term of knowledge
from the InSAR and DInSAR products such as, single interferograms and time
series, thanks to the increasingly availability of satellite SAR data (ERS,
ENVISAT, COSMO-SkyMed, ALOS and TerraSAR-X). Moreover, the progressive
potential of these kinds of sensors in terms of spatial resolution,
revisiting time, which is the prerogative of the orbiting constellation, and
the different wavelengths, make the available products more accurate and
suitable for using in a broad spectrum of earth science. Furthermore, the
possibility to integrate the classic interpretation techniques, which stem
on classic methods (photogeology, geological, structural, geomorphologic,
hydrogeologic and petrographic survey), with the DInSAR products, make
possible the growing of new strategic worldwide research fields. In this
context, the geology plays an important role on the interpretation and
validation of the interferometric data, thanks to its multidisciplinary
characteristic. The objective of this session is to share all the
experiences on the applications, the state of the arte and future
perspectives of the DInSAR technique, focusing on surface deformation
(natural and antrophic subsidence phenomena), the landslides, the deep-
seated gravitational slope deformations, the pre-, co- and postseismic
deformations, the monitoring of the erosion phenomena, the alluvial events,
the monitoring on the infrastructures and the damage analyses.

The deadline for the abstract submission is on May 16,2011. The conference
web site is http://www.geoitalia.org

The conveners
