We would like to inform you that the deadline for registration and payment for the following IUGG 2011 field trips has been extended to April 30.

VF01: "Factors that influence eruption styles from magmatic to phreatomagmatic in intraplate basaltic volcanic fields: the Newer Volcanics Province of southeastern Australia."  This is the youngest and arguably the only still active volcanic province in Australia…and right on the doorstep of Melbourne!

VF02: "The Whitsunday Silicic Large Igneous Province: An IAVCEI Large Igneous Provinces Commission Field Workshop."   Don’t be fooled by the price of this field trip.  Here you will get the opportunity to cruise the Whitsunday Islands on Australia’s famous Great Barrier Reef, stepping off each day on different islands to examine the spectacular exhumed volcanic sequences of a Silicic Large Igneous Province.  It is also the best time of year to visit the Whitsundays.

VF04: "Tertiary submarine basaltic volcanism, Cape Grim and Stanley, NW Tasmania"  Cape Grim and Stanley in picturesque northwestern Tasmania provide excellent examples of pillow lavas, lava lobes, megapillows, pillow fragment breccias, peperite, and basaltic intrusions

VF05: "Auckland Volcanic Field: basaltic volcanism and society"  This is New Zealand's youngest and active basaltic field beneath the country's largest city.  This one-day field trip is an ideal stopover for delegates departing Melbourne via the Pacific Ocean.

SF01: “Where the plate boundary meets the Capital: Active faults and earthquakes in and around Wellington, New Zealand.”

For detailed field trip information visit www.iugg2011.com/fieldtrips.asp. You can register for a field trip using the IUGG 2011 online registration form.  If you have already registered for IUGG 2011 you can re-enter the registration form using your Access Key.
