Ph.D. positions in volcano geophysics in Iceland
An integrated project on volcano structure, dynamics, and magma transport entitled “Volcano Anatomy”, funded by the Icelandic Research Fund, has open for application two positions for Ph.D. students in geophysics. The projects will acquire new crustal deformation and seismic data, and utilize as well available data sets from Icelandic volcanoes and recent eruptions. The aim is to advance the understanding of volcano dynamics in general through combined seismic and crustal deformation studies, integrated with geochemical constraints.
The Ph.D. projects are a collaborative efforts led by the Nordic Volcanological Center, Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Iceland, the Icelandic Meteorological Office, and the Reykjavík University together with a large number of international collaborators. For further information on Volcano Anatomy, its consortium, and more information on the Ph.D. projects, see:

Interested applicants should send a letter of interest before 30 April with two-page description of research interests and expectation for a Ph.D. study, curriculum vitae, transcripts of previous academic work and names of two potential referees to the coordinator of Volcano Anatomy:  Freysteinn Sigmundsson (fs@xxxxx)
