Electron Microbeam Analysis Specialist/Research Scientist, University of Michigan



Electron Microbeam Analysis Laboratory and Department of Geological Sciences invite applications for a senior laboratory specialist/research scientist for the central campus electron microbeam analysis (EMAL) laboratory.  We seek applicants with expertise in electron microbeam techniques and with research interests in geological and environmental sciences.  The position can be either 100% senior lab specialist, requiring a minimum of BS degree, or a combination 60-75% senior lab specialist and 25-40% research scientist, requiring a PhD degree.  The successful candidate will manage the highly productive central campus EMAL lab of the University of Michigan.  Major instruments in the laboratory include: electron microprobes, SEM, TEM, and XRDs.  The appointed rank in the research scientist track (Assistant Research Scientist, Associate Research Scientist, Research Scientist) will depend on the qualifications of the individual.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic credentials.  For full consideration, send a letter of application, vita, summary of relevant equipment experience, research statement if applicable, and contact information for three references by April 15, 2011.  Please send application materials by email with one single PDF attachment to: Prof. Youxue Zhang <youxue@xxxxxxxxx>.  The University of Michigan is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
