Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention on the following session entitled "Petrological and geochemical indicators of magmatic processes and eruption trigger mechanisms" that will occur at the Goldschmidt conference, August 14-19th 2011, in Prague.

Organizers: Fidel Costa, Christian Huber and Olivier Bachmann

Keynote speaker: Dan Morgan, Leeds University

Please consider submitting an abstract!

Session description
Magmas erupted at the surface of the Earth consist of crystals and melts, which acts as tape recorders of pre-eruptive events in magma reservoirs. Understanding the sequence of events that lead to emptying of such reservoirs has obvious significance for hazards assessment. We seek to attract a broad range of researchers, who focus on using petrological and geochemical data on crystals and melts to decipher magmatic processes, with a special emphasis to those that are related to triggering of eruptions or volcanic unrest. We also wish to encourage the participation of researchers, who focus on tying experimental and/or numerical modelling results to petrological and geochemical data in magmatic rocks.
