Call for contributions of volcano-related educational materials

*Attention Volcanology community members:*

**VHub, a cyberinfrastructure community initiative funded by NSF, is a
newly-formed online platform for collaboration in volcanology and volcanic
risk, which includes community-contributed educational outreach and training
intended for a worldwide audience ranging from the general public to
students on all levels to volcanology professionals.  We welcome
contributions of educational materials from those in the volcanology
community who are willing to share their resources with the
volcano-interested community at large through VHub.  These contributions can
be in the form of lectures, lab/classroom exercises, training materials,
workshop proceedings, or any other types of materials you might have that
may aid in teaching/learning about volcanic processes, modeling and/or
monitoring of volcanic processes, or anything else volcano-related!  VHub is
equipped to host a variety of media such as .doc, .pdf, .ppt, and videos
(.mov and .mp4).  Contributors can determine whether to make their materials
available to anyone, to VHub registered users, or only to people who request
access to the material directly to the author.  Contributions can also be in
the form of a short abstract with a link to a web site, for example.

Below are instructions for becoming a VHub member as well as browsing and
uploading resources to VHub.

One example of a resource containing workshop proceedings can be found at:
http://vhub.org/resources/303 Note that you must be a VHub member to view
this.

Thank you.  We hope to see you soon in the VHub community!

*Browsing and Uploading Resources to VHub*

To contribute a resource, one must be a member of VHub.  Simply go to
http://vhub.org/ and click on “Register” to create your account (no
cost).  Once
a member, you can look at existing and contribute new resources (as well
doing lots of other things on VHub!).  To view existing resources, either
click “Resource Warehouse” or scroll over “Resource Warehouse” and click one
of the submenus to browse all or a particular subset of resources.  To add
your own resource, scroll over “Resource Warehouse” and click “Add
Contribution.”  This page provides information on both Intellectual Property
considerations and links for getting started.  You have the option of
clicking either “Getting Started” or, more specifically, the type of
resource you wish to contribute in the “What can I contribute?” section
further down in the page.  Educational materials that you may want to
contribute will fall under “Courses” (collection of lectures and education
materials that make a course on a specific topic) or “Education materials”
(Individual class exercises, study notes, assignments, or other materials
aimed at teaching and learning a specific concept).  Depending on what you
have, you may alternatively want to post it under “Workshops” (A collection
of lectures, seminars, and materials that were presented at a workshop) or
“Presentations” (a more general category for presentations that while
educational, may not have been explicitly created for the classroom
setting).  Clicking on one of these will take you to a page entitled
“Compose,” where you will fill in some basic information about the resource.
Continue by clicking “Next” and continue filling out required fields to
attach files, list authors, and add tags (keywords or very short key phrases
highlighting the topics covered in the resource).  In addition to subject
matter, please also tag for the appropriate audience(s) with the following:
*Public, K-12: Elementary, K-12: Secondary, Introductory undergraduate,
Upper-level undergraduate/graduate, or Professional*.   Review and Complete.
