A special edition of Andean Geology focused on the May 2008 eruption of Chaiten volcano and its impacts is presently being planned. The collection of papers for this special edition is envisioned to be multidisciplinary, including but not limited to the following themes:
Regional tectonics and influence on eruption
Eruption chronology
Eruption rates
Magma dynamics
Petrology
Seismology
Remote sensing
Hydrology/Geomorphology
Eruption products and distributions (pyroclastic deposits, tephra fall, lahars and floods)
Gas
Ground deformation
Thermal analyses
Ecological impacts
Hazards
