Dear colleagues,

We invite submissions to the following international session on "Mineralogical and Microanalytical Constraints on Magmatism" (S-MP06) at the 2011 Japan Geoscience Union Meeting, Chiba City, 22-27 June.

Recent improvements in microanalytical techniques such as (FE-)EPMA,
SIMS, LA-ICPMS, and FTIR have resulted in significant advances of our
understanding of macroscopic magmatic processes and their rates. In this
session, we invite contributions focussing on how the chemistry of
minerals and/or their melt and fluid inclusions can be used to gain
thermobarometric, geochronological, and other insights into the
operation of modern and ancient igneous systems in Japan and elsewhere.
We welcome volcanic and plutonic studies from all tectonic settings,
including magmatic arcs, backarc basins, ocean ridges, ocean islands,
and large igneous provinces.

Invited speakers include:
Masao Ban, Yamagata University
Morihisa Hamada, Tokyo Institute of Technology
Tomoaki Morishita, Kanazawa University
Michihiko Nakamura, Tohoku University

Advance abstract submission closes 31 January, abstract submission deadline is 4 February. For further information and registration, please refer to:
