US Geological Survey Professional Paper 1769: The 2006 Eruption of Augustine Volcano, Alaska
John A. Power, Michelle L. Coombs, and Jeffrey T. Freymueller, editors
http://pubs.usgs.gov/pp/1769/
Augustine Volcano, Cook Inlet, Alaska, erupted explosively in 2006 after two decades of quiescence. This three-month-long eruption began explosively and ended with lava-dome effusion, much like historical eruptions of the volcano in 1986, 1976, and before. The eruption sent ash throughout Alaska and beyond, disrupting air traffic and depositing ash on local communities.
Professional Paper 1769 includes studies of the eruption and other aspects of this island volcano. Its 28 chapters contain contributions of 81 authors from 19 institutions. Chapter topics include seismology, geology, geodesy, volcanic emissions, remote sensing, and information management.
In PDF format, the book may be downloaded in its entirety, by topical sections, or by chapter. A printed version will be available in 2011.
